- Check the denominator: a rate per embryo transfer is not directly comparable with a rate per cycle started.
- Check the patient group: age band, egg source and treatment type can materially change a reported figure.
- Compare like with like: do not compare a donor-egg figure with an own-egg figure.
- Check the outcome: a positive pregnancy test, clinical pregnancy and live birth are different measures.
